Pay attention to the reviews! Most, if not all, of the 4-5 star reviews are from folks who received a copy of Stealing Snow for FREE in order to provide an "unbiased" review. I got my copy from the library (soooo glad I didn't waste my money). A lot of inconsistencies. I hated the main character. I never felt empathy for the characters because there were too many of them and not enough time was spent building on them or their "relationships". In addition, many of the characters get a rip-roaring start, then simply get lost in the shuffle. Maybe they'll show up again in the next installment, but I won't find out because I won't torture myself by reading book two. There was too much going on which only confused the main storyline and left me unfulfilled. To many characters, too many spells, too many subplots, etc., but no depth. The author needs to focus better. The ending, yes, I actually dragged myself through the whole mediocre novel, was so blunt I could have sworn some pages were missing from my copy. It's like the author got up to take a dump and forgot to finish writing. Actually, she left a dump all right. It's called Stealing Snow.

Stealing Snow Danielle Paige Books Reviews

***Contains Spoilers****
Upon originally starting the novel one might think that it is a retelling of Snow White, and although there are a few references to the seven dwarfs this story is more a long the lines of the Snow Queen than Snow White .
Snow, a teenager, has been locked up in an asylum since she was 5ish when she tried to walk through a mirror while dragging her friend. The only bright spot is her friend/love of her life Bale, a total fire bug, but even he has been taken from her since the day of their first kiss a year ago and when he "accidentally" broke her wrist. She was all alone until a boy "orderly" comes into her room, calling her princess. She believes he is as crazy as she is until she sneaks into Bale's room and sees him pulled through the mirror. With the help of her nemesis Magpie, she is able to escape and meet the boy and is transported to Algid. Where she learns the boy thief's name is Jagger, but soon they are running for their lives from snow beasts and jumping off a cliff into a river. Snow is saved by the River Witch, who agrees to help her learn to use the powers, because yes Snow is the Princess of Algid and has the power to control snow. Snow spends time with the River Witch, Gerde (her apprentice that can shift into an animal form), and Kai (Gerde's brother like friend that is an architect). This is when Snow learns the story of her mother's escape to another world to protect her her from the King and the prophecy about her. Though Kai acts like he does not like Snow he does kiss her, meaning that there are now three guys in Snow's life Bale (The Lover), Jagger (The Thief), and Kai (The Thinker) all part of the prophecy about her taking the throne and saving Algid or adding her power's to her fathers and pushing Algid even further into a snowy hell. After escaping the King's Enforcer, when she, Gerde, and Kai make a visit to a city for supplies, Snow is reunited with Jagger. He takes her back to his home, The Clarot, home of the Robbers, where more feelings develop between them but Snow refuses to kiss him. Margot the Queen of the Robbers, and Magpie's mother, agrees to help Snow save Bale from the King and send them home if Snow steals a piece of the King's her Cousin, the Duchess. But everything goes astray with the plan at the Duchess' ball, Kai is there trying to save Gerde who was caught, Snow is able to freeze the lock so they could escape, Snow's cousin is actually her twin sister who has no magical ability, and the King arrives. The first book ends with a huge battle with Snow and the Robbers on one side and the King, his guards, and snow beasts on the other. However, the two biggest betrayals do not surface until the end. Snow's mother is not a hero like everyone thought, she only brought Snow to the other world to keep the King from killing her until the proper moment according to the prophecy, which was why Snow had been in an asylum.Though trust me in the end The Queen gets her comeuppance. The other is that Bale is actually the King's Enforcer. However, if you pay attention neither of the betrayals comes as a surprise. With the death of Margot, the Robber Queen, and the betray at every turn Snow returns in the end to the River Witch to be taught how to use her power to take down the King.
I loved the Dorothy Must Die series, so I had high expectations for this series. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. I don't find myself so eager for the next book. It was still really good! Just not as good as DMD.
This book was extremely similar to her other series, Dorothy Must Die. I did like it and I will get the next one but I don’t know how I’ll feel about that either. So similar it wasn’t funny...
This is a knockout. I loved it and am hoping it will have a sequel. Its really really good! The cover is so pretty too. Very nice!
I just finished the book and I think the premise was clever. The writing in the beginning was clear and focused. I felt it dragged out a bit at the end, which clued me in that this must be continued. I took a star away for not saying that in the beginning as I do not like to read books that continue without being told first and I looked.
I was hesitant to read this after ask the reviews, but I went with my instincts and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It's a little muddled at parts, and not a very true retelling of the Snow Queen, but neither was Frozen and I still found merit in that too. The fact I read the first two novellas before I read this did help me understand the story a lot. I cannot emphasize how essential they are to the depth to this story, just like her Dorothy Must Die series.
I had heard so much about Danielle Paige's "Dorothy Must Die" series, but had not had a chance to read it. After being glued to the pages of "Stealing Snow," a phenomenal beginning to a great new series, I went right out and purchased "Dorothy Must Die." "Stealing Snow" is brilliant. It is a combination of paranormal, coming of age, and teenage angst, all wrapped in a great YA thriller.
I loved this book. Like a lot. I honestly didn't have super high expectations (not a huge fan of Dorothy Must Die) but this was fantastic. The characters were so good and I loved how many female characters there were. I also really liked that none of the characters were wholly good or wholly bad - they felt so real and I think that is what caused me to like it so much. Also the plot twists totally caught me off guard so bonus points for that. My only problem is now I have to wait for a sequel. Also I have dibs on Jagger *swoons*
